Dita Von Teese's 10 Golden Rules For Valentine's Day Lingerie

Valentine's day is nearly here, and honestly what says "Happy Valentine's Day" more deliciously than sensational lingerie??

Dita-Black-Lace-Lingerie

Last week Vogue.com published Marjon Carlos' article Dita Von Teese's 10 Golden Rules Fot Valentine's Day Lingerie.
In the story the Burlesque dancer and queen of seduction, talks about what items you should have, shopping for lingerie and how to get things all steamed up for Valentine's day.
Dita also talks about what to do if you don't have a Valentine, because to quote Dita from the article "Seduction has nothing to do with other people, it's all about creating your own look"
Brilliant, non?

Excerpted from the article:

A girl’s first piece should be in black lace . . .

Dita-Von-Teese-Black-Lace

Black lace is sophisticated, elegant, and erotic all at once, and it looks terrific on every woman. I say invest in a gorgeous set. Buy a bra that fits very well, plus two to three pairs of matching underwear, with varying shapes to add versatility to your wardrobe. The underwear needs to have double the life of the bra, so it’s smart to buy duplicates. Bonus points for the garter belt!

A corset over a waist trainer—any day!

Dita-Von-Teese-Lingerie

Well, there’s a lot of misinformation about what a waist trainer is and what it isn’t, and there are all kinds of companies making these strange stretchy waist-training corsets. It’s important to look past the trendy celebrity-endorsed products—you can’t shape your waist with a Lycra corset, and that’s what they are all talking about.
Waist shaping can be accomplished with a true corset, which should be custom-made to your measurements. It is also no substitute for diet and exercise, and waist training doesn’t happen overnight; it takes a bit of time. I suggest looking to long-established corset brands like Dark Garden Corsetry or Mr. Pearl, and avoid all the new companies trying to jump on the bandwagon.

Let garter belts be your Valentine’s Day Gift to Bae.

Garter belts and stockings are the perfect thing to try! Wear them the French way: underwear over the top of the garter belt, not under. Black stockings and a black garter belt are sophisticated and erotic. Invest in good-quality pieces. I wear garters in everyday life, so the ones from my collections are very functional and made with six straps and power mesh to keep stockings in place. I have a drawerful of cute garter belts from luxe brands that are only really wearable for photo shoots, so when I created my own line, I set out to make garters that function properly. I’d say garter belts are my specialty.
Dita has some really great girl advice in the article, including this gem:
"I always saw lingerie as a moment of beauty and luxury for myself."
I have always felt the same way about beautiful lingerie.
Another great Dita quote: "I never put lingerie on for a man. Ever since I was a little girl, I saw lingerie as something that was symbolic of womanhood and femininity."

Winterize Your Beauty Game ~ Makeup And Lingerie

I love beautiful lingerie, and let's face it - what woman doesn't?

Adore-Me-Blue-Lingerie
Blue lingerie set from AdoreMe.com

When you are moving through your day wearing gorgeous underpinnings you walk with more confidence (which is totally sexy) your clothes drape beautifully on your body and you just feel fabulous.

One of my favorite purveyors of intimate apparel is Adore Me.
(Find them at AdoreMe.com)
They have a cool quiz you can take that helps profile your personal lingerie loves, and from there they direct you to styles that work your particular shape, size and style. Its awesome.
You can buy as you go, or you can sign up for a monthly delivery.
And what's not to love about that??

Adore Me has just made 4 fabulous pairings of super sexy lingerie for winter, and the perfect makeup looks to go with them.
They asked me for my product choices to help you create each look.
As you transition your makeup look from fall into winter here are some key makeup items to add to your makeup bag. They will not only look fabulous with these lovely lingerie items, but also with your winter jeans and sweaters, little black dress, business suit, or whatever else you are wearing!

Look 1: Nataleigh Unlined

I am obsessed with this color. The deep cranberry tone of this lovely lacy set is so moody and beautiful!
To create the metallic eye and bold berry mouth start by lining the eye and then smudging the liner to take the harsh edges off. Instead of black, try Charlotte Tilbury Rock' n' Kohl liner in Marlene Midnight. When you have it nice and smudgy go over the eyelid with a soft metallic shadow. Instead of the metallic golds and bronzes we played with over the summer months, give yourself an icier feel with a grey metallic like Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Mysterio. The key is to keep your application light and blend away the edges.
To play up the deep berry hue of this gorgeous set you need a great lip game. My favorite new lip for winter, that looks equally killer with a soft creamy sweater and jeans or with a little black dress is the combination of MAC Lip liner in Beet and the power shade of matte lipstick in All Fired Up. I am wearing this lip every day.

Look 2: Alicia

This look requires a red lip, which can feel really overwhelming if you don't normally wear red lips. I posted about my favorite red lips for the holidays a couple of weeks ago with a series of bright, bold, in your face red lipsticks, but not everyone wants a red lip that fierce. If you want a red lip that is less fiesty try cult favorite Lipstick Queen semi sheer Medieval. When you want to fire it up and make it bolder just use a bolder lip liner, when you want to keep it more subtle just pat it on with your finger.

Look 3: Mandy

To pull off this look you need a deep, dark, inky eyeliner. I love Makeup Forever's Ink Liner. It's jet black, and the applicator has a calligraphy tip that lets you apply it with razor sharp precision.
One of the best ways to offset red - be it red lingerie or a red dress, is with a nude lip. This season I'm loving Tom Ford Lip Color in Blush Nude. This is a great color as it doesn't wash the skin out, its pretty and luxurious and goes with everything in your closet. It plays beautifully with a bright red as well as a scarlet red, like the bra pictured below. Which, by the way, I am also obsessing over.
You can find it on the Adore Me website

Ana Beatriz Barros For Intimissimi Fall 2014

I adore beautiful lingerie.

Intimissimi-Fall-2014-Campaign-Ana-Beatriz-Barros-01

Whether its simple cottons or more elaborate designs I always believe a girl should be wrapped in beautiful underwear, every day.
Every year when I'm in Florence I stock up at Intimissimi. (I shop them in Paris too, but Florence is my place.) They have the softest, most delicious cottons anywhere.

Lingerie in Dress To Kill Summer 2012 issue

 I am eternally devoted
to a really good fuchsia lipstick.
I'm always in the mood for fabulous lingerie.

So what better way to start a new week?

Dress To Kill's summer 2012 issue
breaks from the current Olympic sportswear mold
with a sultry lingerie spread.
Styled by Cary Tauben
in a delicious combination of seductive lingerie
paired with high end accessories.
And a kitty or two.

Lensed by Richard Bernadin
it doesn't strike me as much of a summer editorial,
but then again,
there are only so many sunny season inspired
sea-siren and workout wear
stories that a girl can handle.

Fetish Fashion Lara Stone For Vogue Japan November 2011

I was actually researching naughty lingerie for a Christmas Gift Giving Ideas post when I found this one.
And its just far too good to wait for!
Lara Stone looking fierce and fabulous as she rocks the dominatrix vibe in the November issue of
Vogue Japan.

Shot by the amazing Mario Sorrenti, Lara Stone works an icy cold and yet white hot stare in this photo tribute to fetish meeting fashion.

It would appear that the fashion accessory du jour would be the leather harness, shown here with flair and versatility.
For the girl with the leather harness on her wish list, hair and makeup are trending away from the predictable.
Go for a softer wave to the hair, and keep it looking touchable and glossy.
Minimize the brow, soften the eye (no fierce cat eyes or uber dark smokiness). Your mouth instead of the expected red or vermillion gloss should be a matte deep neutral, and your cheeks should be chiseled within an inch of your life.

Haha! Go girl!
